An interdisciplinary study of ethical, social, and policy issues related to clinical medicine, public health, health policy, and human research. Cannot receive credit for both BHM 100 and PHI 161. P-Prerequisite override required.

BHM 310. The Art and Science of Health and Healing. (3 h)

Brings together perspectives from the humanities and the clinic to explore health and disease, suffering and dying, as well as the art and science of healing. P-PHI 161 or prerequisite override required.

BHM 311. Bioethics Methods and Theories. (3 h)

A study of the contemporary bioethics theories and methods and their application. Prerequisite override required.

BHM 312. Bioethics, Humanities, and the Public Life. (3 h)

Examines the role of bioethics and humanities in addressing substantive matters of public importance or policy. Prerequisite override required.

BHM 385. Special Topics in Bioethics, Humanities, and Medicine. (1-3 h)

Offered by members of the faculty on specialized topics of their choice. With permission, may be repeated for credit.

BHM 395. Independent Study in Bioethics, Humanities, and Medicine. (1-3 h)

Reading, research, or internship courses designed to meet the needs and interests of students, to be carried out under the supervision of a faculty member. May be repeated for credit. P-Prerequisite override required.
