Students have the opportunity to study and live at Casa Artom situated along the Grand Canal in Venice. Each semester or summer session, a resident professor leads a group of up to 20 students and offers two courses in his or her respective discipline. Resident professors are chosen from a wide variety of academic departments. In addition, Venetian professors offer courses in the study of Italian language or literature, Italian art and architecture, history, and economics to help students integrate into the local culture. Group excursions throughout Venice and in surrounding cities enhance the learning experience as well as numerous integrative experiences within the city itself. Prior study of Italian language is not required, but may be determined by the resident professor. Further information may be obtained from the program director, professor Peter Kairoff, in the Department of Music. Applications available at the Office for Global Programs and Studies.
